Thumbs Up for AMW 19″ LCD Monitor for $129
Last week I purchased an AMW 19 inch LCD from Fry’s for $169, with a $30 rebate (now, if I can just get it into the mail). Running it off of my Dell Latitude notebook as a secondary monitor, it extends my desktop very nicely. At first I noticed a little bit of flicker, but that seems to have disappeared just as the owners manual indicated.
It is basic with no USB pass-through ports or built-in speakers. The color is good, and it accepts VGA and DVI input, but no composite video. As you can see, it is not a TV of any kind, but is good for watching a DVD while you work on your computer.
With prices coming down like this, getting a decent LCD monitor is no longer the problem; instead, it is the question of what to do with the old CRTs – especially for those who have to worry about disposal fees.
By the way, I see that Fry’s now has that monitor on sale for $159 with a $30 rebate.

I just bought one today at Frys for $149.99 with a $30 rebate. It was very simple to set up and it auto adjusts itself to the system you connect to it. Great picture and great brightness and color.
I really like it and would recommend it to anyone needing a reasonable cost LCD monitor.
Hi bought ten AMW 19″ LCD monitor a year ago for my office, 6 of them are not working for no reason, one by one have gone out, the screen just goes black and the power light just keeps on blinking, tryied to call for support but the number is overseas, is not a good company in my opinion, the price my seem good but no use if they stop working and there is no support.
Sorry to hear about your dying monitors Alfredo. My single one is still doing fine, but I must admit that it has been unplugged for much of the time since I use it only as an auxilliary every so often to extend the desktop on my notebook when I do special projects for work and need lots of screen space for working in spreadsheets or in Visio.
I bought mine (19″ LCD) at Fry’s Grand Opening in my city 1.5 yrs ago for $99 with rebate. Great deal, huh? But now the same thing has happened as what Alfredo describes. I swapped monitors with another of my computers and all it does is flicker like it’s trying to get enough power and the power light flickers on and off at about 1 second intervals. It only starts working when I unplug and plug the VGA several times.
Charlie, out of curiosity, are you having problems with both/all of your computers – or just the one you swapped the monitor to? If the latter, then does that computer have modern video card and drivers for the monitor – or is it an old computer?
After only 1.5 years with my AMW 19″ I had the same problem as Alfredo and Charlie. At first I could get it to work after an extended period of waiting but now there is no response except for the infuriating blinking blue light.

I am happy to say that I have received my rebate check, and that I am still very happy with my monitor!
