FireHouseSubs.com Extinguishes that Burning Hunger
A sandwich shop started by firemen. Pretty cool. And not just sandwiches, but good sandwiches. This is coming from a guy who is fairly picky and stays away from most sandwiches restaurants.
Since I live in Texas and am working in a small town in Arkansas, I was happy to find some familiarity in my dining options. The Fire House Subs in Frisco, Texas made tasty subs, so why not the one in Bentonville?
Better yet, I could take one on the road and enjoy it on my weekly commute home. Being a guy, you understand that when I hit the road, I want to make time and not take time to stop and get food. So I figured I would try to get a head start. At www.FireHouseSubs.com, I ordered my Hook And Ladder on wheat bread with Italian dressing added. Having ordered in the morning, my instructions were for them to make it at 5pm so I could pick it up by 5:15. At 4:49 pm I checked the traffic report, then hit the door. When I arrived at the store, my sandwich was waiting – and still warm from the toaster. With the help of cruise control for the throttle and my knees for the steering wheel, I was able to take pleasure in my sandwich without having to stop to eat!
Firehouse Subs taste delicious. But they take a long time to make as far as sandwiches go, and I really hate having to wait so long while I wait for my order. Ordering ahead is excellent for larger orders such as for your family. Even if you plan to eat in the restaurant, you can [potentially] avoid having to wait.
There are a few opportunities for improvement for Firehouse Subs though. On the last two occasions, I found that ordering less than an hour or two in advance might not get my order to them in time. At the store level, they call them FAX orders while I call them Internet orders. They said something about the order being faxed by corporate. That brings into question whether they have merely a sub-par internet solution, or an hourly employee printing off emails and then running them through a fax machine like they did during the late 1800′s.
So, a stop-gap solution suggested by one of the store employees was to call their store on the phone after placing my Internet (FAX) order. I guess I could do that, but it defeats the idea of efficiency that their website is supposed to facilitate. My recommendation to Firehouse Subs is to get with the times. Because when thinking about firemen, one expects reliability.
