<p>ATVs Recalled By KYMCO Due to Suspension Failure; Riders Can Lose Control of Vehicle</p>
<p>The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.<br />

Name of Product: 2006-2008 Model Year MXU 500 All Terrain Vehicles</p>
<p>Manufactured in: Taiwan</p>
<p>Number of Units: 1,350</p>
<p>Importer: KYMCO USA, of Spartanburg, S.C.</p>
<p>Hazard: The pivot bolts holding the rear suspension onto the frame can become loose, causing the rear swing arm to detach from the chassis posing a risk of injury or death to the operator.</p>
<p>Incidents/Injuries: KYMCO has received six reports of incidents, including two reports of minor injuries.</p>
<p>Description: This recall involves all model year 2006-2008 MXU 500 ATVs. The vehicle is identified by a label on the front as KYMCO and the model is determined by a label located on each side of the fuel tank as MXU 500.</p>
<p>Sold by: KYMCO dealers nationwide from November 2006 through December 2007 for between $6,000 and $6,500.</p>
<p>Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ATVs and contact an authorized KYMCO dealer in their area to schedule a free repair. Registered owners were sent direct mail notification of this recall.</p>

<p><font face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular" size="2"><strong>Hazard: </strong>The jackets have a waist drawstring with a toggle that could become snagged or caught in small spaces or doorways, which can pose an entrapment hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued <a href="http://www.cpsc.gov/CPSCPUB/PUBS/208.pdf">guidelines</a> (pdf) to help prevent children from getting entangled at the waist by drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts.</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular" size="2"><strong>Incidents/Injuries: </strong>None reported.</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular" size="2">   </font><font face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular" size="2"><strong>Description: </strong>The jackets are hooded, zip in front, and have a drawstring at the waist. They were sold in navy and gray in multiple children&#8217;s sizes. Gap Outlet is printed on a label at the neck. Style number 513573 is printed on a white label sewn behind the size and product care label near the neckline.</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular" size="2"><strong>Sold exclusively at: </strong>Gap Outlet stores nationwide from September 2007 through December 2007 for about $50.</font></p>

Consumers who return the jacket before April 30, 2008, will also receive a $5 appreciation card. Consumers choosing to keep the jacket should immediately remove the drawstring to eliminate the hazard.</font></p>
